Born February 10, 1980, Ashanti Ngozi arrived as The Star! First gracing the stage at age 5 as a dancer, winning the crowd as the favorite. At 8 she found the viola, classical music and began writing poetry, landing her first win for a Mother’s Day poetry contest at school. In junior high school, Ashanti discovered the theater, adding acting and singing to her talents. After a successful high school career, starting a dance club, black history club and reciting an original poem at graduation, she pursued an acting career. Facing the hurdle of life, she decided to work as background talent to pay bills before deciding to go to New York to be on Broadway!  Blessed to land at a tiny theater off-off broadway in the Bronx, Ashanti spread her wings like never before! Creating, producing, directing and co-staring in a performance poetry show called WORD for 3 seasons, lead her back to school to study film. Since graduating from Brooklyn College with a BA in Film Production and an award winning short documentary, she has completed five music videos, two commercials, one short experimental film and eighteen years of production work. Most recently, she accomplished writing a five episode crime drama for a Ghanaian director (receiving Staff Writer credit on IMDb), two feature screenplays, a short drama and TV pilot.
